Too lazy to Wii
Yes relax, I don’t know about you but if I wanted to madly wave my arms around like a epileptic on speed (its ok for me to used this reference as I had epilepsy when I was kid) I would just watch an episode of Pokémon, its a lot less effort and when someone comes into the room and catches you, you can at least say its not me it was Pokémon. On the bright side it does give you a legitimate reason to sit on your couch and play with you wiimote. If fact some people (you know who you are) can keep it next to you when you are watching your “special movies” and just quickly turn on your Wii and claim you are resting the wiimote on you leg while you are playing. Then again if you are into looking stupid (I know there a lot of you- think eyetoy) or are drunk don’t let me stop you.

Prey in less than a week
Anyway I was looking foward to having a go of Prey after playing the demo but I wasn’t willing to buy the game as the multilayer in the demo sucked and you can only play 8 people on live.
The gameplay in Prey was quite refreshing for a FPS. It has this cool portal system, its possible to change the gravity effectively flipping the levels around and you can enter “the spirit realm”. All the new features add some interesting puzzles but apart from that the game was pretty much the standard FPS, kill everything that moves, type of gameplay everyone has come to love. The one outstanding feature of this game was the story, it has enough twists and turns to keep things enjoyable, all be it a little obvious, but definitely better than most of the recent movies I have seen.
In summary if you live in the Lower Hutt go get it out, it is defiantly worth the $10 for a good sci-fi story, but not worth buying as the multiplayer sucks (like Tim), and the story is short enough to finish in under a week (even with a new baby in the house), quick book it if you are fast you will be able to get it Saturday as i am taking it back tomorrow.

How I Fixed - Error 1352
Today while trying to install the dot net framework on my virtual machine I got an error just before the install started and it wouln’t install. The error was “Error 1325 - ‘documents’ is not a valid short file name” so I went to good old google and tried to find it… I found a page by micro$oft saying it occurs when you uninstall stuff and all you need to do is install this program to fix it. Sadly nothing was installing including that program, so it didn’t work.
I was starting to get rather angry and everything I found said I needed to re-install the service pack, which is a problem because my Windows XP came with Service Pack 2 already installed. While yelling at the stupid computer and cursing Micro$ofts name it occured to me the “My Documents” folder links to a share called documents, maybe thats the problem. I reset the “My Documents” path back to the default, tried the install, and it worked.
So in summary if you get an error message saying “Error 1325 - ‘File/directory name‘ is not a valid short file name” it is probably because you are using a share and pointing to it directly instead of using a virtual network drive. If you check this or restore the “My Documents” folder back to the default value it will probably fix it.
